On an inline spinner, the blade rotates around the shaft to produce vibration and flash. A spoon uses its metal body to wobble during the retrieve. These are different designs selected by weight, size, blade or body shape and hook type. They should not be confused with a metal jig simply because they are made of metal.

The spinner starts working when the blade rotates; a broad blade creates more resistance than a narrow one. A spoon supports steady retrieves and controlled drops. Adjust speed and depth without allowing the lure to lose its action. Check the rod's casting weight and the condition of split rings, shaft and hook.
